By urban design ‒ unlike urbanism and architecture ‒ we conceive the discipline designing spaces and public areas which define the urban fabrics ‒ such as city squares, streets, parks and other elements that circumscribe the environmental character of a city.
Urban design is not only about the definition of elements as pavements, street furniture or public lighting; it also is about establishing space planning criteria, circulation, transports studies, planning of activities and strategies for citizen participation in public areas.
Deliverables
The documentation includes drawings, construction details, product specifications, use and maintenance diagrams, and technical reports.
Objectives
Urban design is understood either as a project in itself or as a service associated with an architectural intervention, in which case it integrates the building with its context.
