connecting riads

connecting riads

Connecting Riads suggestively coils around two semi-public courtyards in a characteristic snake-like volume. A waving height variation, throughout the roof’s plane, also contributes to the impression of a three-dimensional coiling movement, endowing this large complex with a surprisingly lithe and light quality.

nest shelters

nest shelters

To revitalise the neglected area around the river, the invisible social network of the city expands seeking alternative uses. The ‘nest shelters’ are modules that combine and accommodate the new settlers.

spliced towers

spliced towers

The Spliced Towers combine a stunning design and a modern concept of a city landscape. This remarkable cluster grows vertically in a graceful consonance with the hilly surroundings. It showcases futuristic yet sober, eco-friendly exteriors, composed of timber and stone plates.

next stop: hutopolis

next stop: hutopolis

Located in a traditional Hutong, this exhibition space develops as a dark environment where the public can be engaged by a three-dimensional graphic, multi-media installations, and a 2 sqm interactive touch-screen with an urban videogame.

harvest home

harvest home

This experimental house, based on a traditional scheme, is realised with natural resources which grow abundantly in the area. Its slender shape becomes an organic element that mingles with the valley’s landscape. A bamboo shell, interwoven with a wicker mesh, creates a hard-wearing structure.
